She listens to what your goals are and gives you your options. I’ve tried for years to lose 10lbs, and I’ve already lost double that. The office is clean and welcoming. I will continue my journey”

What Are Compounded Medications and How Do They Work?

Our Primary Care services encompass a wide range of healthcare, including routine check-ups, vaccinations, chronic disease management, sick visits, weight management, diabetes care, and more, ensuring comprehensive and personalized care.

Benefits of Compounded Medications

The benefits of compounded medications include the ability to create custom-made prescriptions that meet the specific needs of an individual patient. This can include the ability to adjust dosage, form, and strength to suit the patient’s needs. Compounded medications can also benefit patients who have difficulty swallowing pills or require medicines in a different state, such as a cream or gel.

Is Semaglutide an FDA-approved weight loss medication?

Yes. Semaglutide is an FDA-approved injectable medication available by prescription only. It is for adults who are either overweight or obese. Semaglutide is a “GLP-1 receptor agonist medicine.” It mimics glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). It does this by increasing insulin secretion and suppressing appetite.

Is Semaglutide the same as Wegovy™ or Ozempic® for weight loss?

Yes. Ozempic® and Wegovy™ are brand-name medications Novo Nordisk produces that contain Semaglutide as the active ingredient. Semaglutide should not be used while taking other GLP-1 receptor agonists such as Ozempic® and Wegovy™.

How does Semaglutide work?

Semaglutide mimics a hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (or GLP-1). GLP-1 targets areas in the brain that regulate appetite and food intake. Semaglutide assists you in eating less and helps you lose weight.

How much weight can I lose with Semaglutide?

Most patients lose 1-2 pounds per week on average with medication injected once weekly in combination with a balanced diet and exercise. A reduced-calorie meal plan and exercise can help increase the rate at which you lose weight and help you keep it off. However, dieting and exercise are not required to lose weight on the program.

What are the potential side effects of Semaglutide?

The most common side effects of Semaglutide are nausea and constipation. Nausea can be treated easily with ondansetron (Zofran) or over-the-counter Dramamine. Constipation is alleviated with an increased water intake, stool softener (Dulcolax, Colace), or fiber supplement (Miralax, Metamucil).

You should avoid taking Semaglutide if you or your family have a medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) history.

How is the Semaglutide administered?

Semaglutide is injected by the patient subcutaneously once per week on the same day of the week.

What do the programs include?

The monthly fee includes medication, initial blood work, consultation costs, and support throughout the duration of the weight loss program.

Is blood work performed prior to starting the medical weight loss program?

Blood work is included in the program. Labs will help our providers, and you further understand your weight loss challenges and let you know what other supplements may benefit you.

How much does Semaglutide cost?

Semaglutide is a relatively new drug. It can be costly, as it is sold under the brand names Wegovy and Ozempic. It is available from A Renewed Path Medical as a generic Semaglutide. The average retail price for a four-dose supply of Wegovy is between $1,304.68 and $1,619.00 (at the time of this writing, see GoodRX). At A Renewed Path Medical, for the 4-week plan, the medication is $110 per dose (monthly cost of $442, once per week starting dose). Also, at A Renewed Path, we offer weekly doses.
